Then and now.

This week I have been amazed as we looked over pictures that we have taken of Jaxon over the last 5 1/2 months. It is so amazing to me to see how this small bundle of joy has grown into such a beautiful happy little boy. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I am everyday grateful for my opportunity to have such a blessing in our home!

Jury Duty!

You have to love our legal system, and the attorneys/judges that run it. I got summoned for jury duty last week. Really not my favorite thing to do. Last time I got summoned I wore a glock t-shirt and took American Handgunner to read. (I was dismissed within 2 hours).

Called last night to verify that I needed to show up today. So I went to the Gilbert Municipal court. Checked in by 8:15 as instructed, and then sat and waited. After about 2 hours of waiting the judge comes in and tells all 50 of the summoned potential jurors that they could leave. Apparently the "key witness" didn't bother to show up for court.

It scares me that so many of our elected officals in Washington want to reform our healthcare system, but can't even manage the government that we have now effectively!

The start of solids!

Jax started solids today. We had tried about a month ago, but he wanted nothing to do with it. This time it was different. He went after it. (mainly he wanted to hold/play with the spoon) It was a fun afternoon of feeding and cleaning him up. I will have to post some pictures when I get a chance!

A kid at Christmas!

Today I have felt a little bit like a kid at Christmas. Trish had a bunch of errands to run so Jax and Dad got to hang out. Unfortunately, he wanted to eat and go right to sleep right after Trish left. So I have found myself going in to check on him repeatedly, hoping that he will hurry up and wake up so we can play. Remind me of being a kid at Christmas time because I can remember everyday checking the tree and hoping it would hurry up and get here.

Two milestones complete!

The last 10 days have been a very busy time at our home. We had our severance hearing for Jaxon on 10/13/09. It was really stressful to see if anyone would show up at the hearing to try and claim parental rights to him, but no one did! All parental rights were severed, and we signed the final adoption petition yesterday. Now it is just down to a hearing to finalize the adoption, and we are temple bound!

I have contemplated that events of the last 5 months alot lately, and especially that day (5/29/09). I am still completely in shock the way that things happened, but have gained a new and personal testimony that the Lord does listen to prayers, and has a special interest in each of our lives personally. I am so grateful for our little Jax. The joy that he has brought into my life can't be explained.

General Conference

What a wonderful General Conference weekend. I especially enjoyed Elder Holland's remarks in the Sunday morning session. What a strong witness of the restored Gospel. I feel that my batteries have been recharged and am ready for the coming week.

How fortunate we are to have a living prophet on the earth today. I am personally grateful for the guidance and counsel that we are able to receive at conference time. I am not always good and applying it to my life, but still thankful for the guidance.
Can there be anything more rewarding than the laugh of your child? Jax had his first belly laugh this week. It was so loud and funny that I couldn't stop laughing for almost an hour! He is still a little bit reserved about giving up a laugh, but they are well worth it!

Here we go!

Well, I have sat back and watched as many of our friends and family have started to blog. It has been rewarding to participate in your lives (somewhat) by reading about your success, frustration, happy and sad times. So I figured it was time for us to join the revolution, and start a blog so we might share some of our happiness with you!
